Weiquan Long's design inspiration comes from the Chinese poem "tea in clay pot, time and affection". The gift set includes black tea and shortbread, traditional festive foods for the Mid-Autumn Festival. The design aims to convey warm greetings and sincere emotions between the enterprise and the customer.
What sets this design apart is its simplicity and elegance. The packaging, made of kraft paper, features an ink painting of a tea mountain and outlines of pastries. The artistic conception of rubbing and ink adds a touch of elegance to the design. The whole package reflects the emotion between people, a sentiment deeply rooted in the traditional way of storing tea in clay pots.
The gift set consists of two boxes and a bag, with dimensions of 270mmX268mmX102 for the box and 282mmX110mmX300mm for the bag. The design process took place in Guangzhou, China, in 2017. The challenge was to design a unique, affordable gift that conveys friendship amidst the many Mid-Autumn Festival gifts available in China.
The design's unique properties and realization technology reflect Weiquan Long's thoughtful approach to design. The layout of the box surface is simple and plain, with mottled ink painting showing the tea mountain. The double helix coil outlines the pastry, adding a realistic touch. The entire package, made of clay pot and poetry, reflects the charm and elegance of the combination of Chinese tradition and contemporary culture.
Weiquan Long's Tea and Pastry design, a Silver A' Packaging Design Award winner, is a testament to his creative and professional expertise. This design, admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder. It showcases a remarkable level of excellence, reflecting the designer's innovative approach to blending tradition and modernity.
